Canada thinks that we have very few interesting Prime Ministers but one of them was William Lyon Mackenzie King.
William Lyon Mackenzie King was Prime Minster from the 1920's – 1940's. What made William Lyon Mackenzie King interesting is that he consulted mediums on a regular basis and he traveled to England many times to see and speak to many famous spiritualist.
William Lyon Mackenzie King kept his belief of spiritualism and use of mediums a secret due to he was afraid the public would frown upon it. William Lyon Mackenzie King was very upset with the death of his mother, father, sister, brother and a close friend all within a short period of time. Seeking comfort, he turned to Spiritualism, and started to consult mediums and attend seances. King hoped to gain proof of an “afterlife”.
I went to Ottawa to help cleanse a friends sister's house of negative spirits and as a side trip a group of us went to William Lyon Mackenzie King Laurie Estate. William Lyon Mackenzie King inherited this estate after Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurie passed away. William Lyon Mackenzie King's spirit was very prominent and strong in the house. I also picked up on his dog Pat who followed us all around the house.
As we went up to the second floor and walked in and out of the rooms I was drawn to the hallway. I walked over to the far wall and I could feel intense spiritual energy coming off of it. Spirit was telling me that there was a doorway built into the wall. I told the tour guide this and he confirmed it saying " it was a storage room but it wasn't used anymore". I stated that was weird because I was getting there was a lot of spiritual activity behind the door. The tour guide then confirmed that this room was originally used by William Lyon Mackenzie King for his seances. I stated that is why I was picking up on all the spiritual activity from the wall. The wall was panelled and you couldn't tell there was a doorway.

William Lyon Mackenzie King was a very charismatic person and he was very well liked. His bedroom is on the second floor and it is full of very cool things that people had given him during his time as Prime Minister. There is a kneeling stool from Queen Elizabeth the 1st that was given to him plus one of two death masks of Abraham Lincoln that was given to him by the American Government. Only two copies were ever made of the death mask. Also, William Lyon Mackenzie King slept in a brass bed that was given to him by The Roosevelt Hotel in New York. During one of his overnight stays at the Roosevelt Hotel, William Lyon Mackenzie King called down the next morning to tell the manager that the bed he had slept in gave him the best night sleep he has ever had. The Roosevelt Hotel was so impress with him they gave him the brass bed and that is what he slept in at the Laurie House. To say the least William Lyon Mackenzie King was a great Prime Minister and a very unique man....one that I would have liked to have known.
